Ceramics are no stranger in life. Ceramics can be used not only in decorations, but also in building materials. When used in building materials, ceramics can be divided into fine ceramics and traditional ceramics. So, what's the difference between fine ceramics and traditional ceramics?
Differences between fine ceramics and traditional ceramics:
1. In terms of raw materials, it breaks through the limit that clay is the main raw material of traditional ceramics. Special ceramics generally take oxides, nitrides, silicides, borides and carbides as the main raw materials.
2. In terms of composition, the composition of traditional ceramics is determined by the composition of clay, so ceramics of different origins and kilns have different textures. Because the raw material of special ceramics is pure compound, so the composition is determined by artificial proportion, and the quality of its properties is determined by the purity and technology of the raw material, rather than by the origin.
3. In terms of the preparation technology, it breaks through the boundaries of traditional ceramics with kiln as the main production means, and widely adopts vacuum sintering, protective atmosphere sintering, hot pressing, hot static pressing and other means.
4. In terms of performance, special ceramics have different special properties and functions, such as high strength, high hardness, corrosion resistance, conduction, insulation and special functions of masks in magnetic, electrical, optical, acoustic and biological engineering, so that they are widely used in various aspects of high temperature, mechanical, electronic, aerospace and medical engineering.
